Working Together

In order to create an Estate Plan that works for you, I take the time to meet with you, understand your situation, learn about your family and loved ones, discover what’s important to you, and clarify your needs and vision. Understandably, you’ll want to know about me, which is why my initial meeting is at no charge to you. This meeting is usually about 30 minutes long, and gives us the chance to meet, and learn some basics.

When We Meet

When we meet, I’ll ask you to complete a form which catalogs some of the basic information I need to know about your assets. Once this form is completed, we’ll meet again, to discuss what’s on the form, and go further into detail to make certain I understand your situation clearly. I’ll then begin to draft the documents comprising your Estate Plan, inquiring of you if I need any further information from you as I proceed.

Once the draft is completed, we’ll meet to go over the documents, ensuring your wishes are correctly communicated in what I have prepared. The documents will be signed, witnessed and/or notarized as needed. I’ll then file what must be filed legally, and prepare an archival set of your documents, which I will securely mail to you after we meet.

Before we meet, I’ll send you a document I ask you complete as a starting point for your Estate Plan.

As Your Situation Changes

As your situation changes — When family members are born or pass away, you get married or divorced, you sell or buy a home, your wishes change — I’ll work with you to update your Estate Planning documents.

The documents comprising Estate Plans are living documents, in the sense that they must be updated as your situation, family, desires, and life change. As well as your wishes changing, new children, new partners, the sale or purchase of real estate, and any number of circumstances can dictate changes to the documents comprising your Estate Plan. If the documents are not updated, they may not properly, legally spell out your desires or protect your loved ones.

I maintain contact with you once I have created your Estate Plan, and strive to make the process of aligning your Estate Plan with your changing life as easy as possible.
